8 Months Old

Today Adam is 8 months old. Our sensitive little guy is busy exploring the world around him. Here's what's happening at 8 months.

- Trying really hard to crawl. Tonight he shuffled four crawls but couldn't repeat it.
- Transitions to his tummy and back to sitting.
- Starting to climb up on you.
- Loves feeding himself- favorites include bananas, crackers, and Puffs.
- Hates baby food-especially cereal.
- Loves when his sister yells, "Stinky!"
- Has four teeth (we have endured the tortured teething process for months).
- Loves pulling hair- especially his sister's.
- Would prefer that mom stays next to him all day long.

Happy 8 months old little one!

Summer Photos

Two weeks ago, we spent some time up in Hibbing. Tom Lindstrom took some great photos of the kids. If you want copies, stop by our house and we'll give you some!

Orr Bear Sanctuary

Recently, we spent some time up in northern MN. I went camping with my brothers at Jay Cooke State Park, and afterward caught up with my family in Hibbing.

The day before we left for Hibbing for home, Grandpa Matt, Grandma Kathy, Elizabeth and I traveled to Orr to the Vince Shute Bear Sanctuary (americanbear.org). It works like this: on this private acreage next to Voyageurs National Park and Pelican Lake, a bus drops you off from the parking lot. You exit onto a viewing deck with guides available to answer questions. Each evening, the staff places food out to attract the bears in.

Everyone enjoyed seeing the wild bears eat and interact, but from a safe perch! And Elizabeth even walked away with a black bear from the gift shop. She quickly named it C-Bear, the nickname of her 7-month old cousin Carly Senich. Speaking of cubs, there were 3 in a tree when we arrived. Apparently a sow bear will "tree" her cubs while she feeds. Sam and I might look into that technique...

Ridiculous

We have so many summer pictures to post, but I'm too tired tonight. Instead, I'll share a funny Elizabeth story:

Elizabeth loves to be naughty, scream, have a fit, and then miraculously become a normal human being. Tonight she was yelling about something, and I was half listening, half doing some paperwork. After the "storm," she walked through the living room announcing, "Mom, I'm done being ridiculous," and proceeded to play.

This girl is going to give me gray hairs!
