Learning To Sit

Elizabeth is learning to sit. She has taken a couple of big spills, but it's all part of the learning process. We're looking forward to the day that she can sit without pillows surrounding her.

The Joy of Cardboard Boxes

Forget expensive toys! Elizabeth has realized that cardboard boxes are so much fun. Elizabeth is learning to sit up, so the cardboard box keeps her upright and happy. It also keeps her contained, which her parents like. Looks like she's having fun...

Stranger Anxiety

Stranger anxiety has finally hit the Grant household. We thought it was just scary bearded men like Brad Haugen, but apparently, Elizabeth doesn't discriminate. Today Sam took Elizabeth out to lunch with her friend Josey. Every time that Josey smiled at Elizabeth, she would smile back and then start to cry. Her little lip was quivering off and on all day! The little poop! We're hoping that this phase passes quickly!

5 Months Old

Elizabeth celebrated the five month mark on Monday. What better place to party but the doctors office?! We thought that maybe she had an ear infection, but it turns out, she's just fine. (I guess there is no reason for the insistent screaming.) She did weigh in at a whopping 16 lbs. 10 oz!!! Elizabeth is ready for the famine!

Kylie Visit

We visited baby Kylie and Emily last night. Elizabeth was on "best behavior" which meant that she kept her screaming to a reasonable level. (I guess we can't expect perfection!) Kylie was beautiful. She slept most of our visit, but opened her eyes for some pictures. Sam was jealous of the sleepy baby, but Josh claims that Elizabeth used to sleep like that. Either it's been too long or he's going crazy!

Me and My Dad

I think my dad is the best. Here's why:

1. He picks me up from daycare.
2. He lets me eat his hair.
3. He plays games with me.
4. He makes my mom happy (or drives her crazy which takes the heat off me.)
5. He doesn't yell at me when I spit up on him.
6. He reads me his history books.
7. He's crazy about me!

Goodhue Baby Shower

My colleagues at Goodhue put on a wonderful baby shower after school on Wednesday. Elizabeth received many excellent presents. I didn't get any pictures at the shower, but we did get some pictures of her in the dress that she wore. We think she's pretty cute!

The Beginning of the End

Elizabeth impressed everyone with acquiring a new skill this weekend...rolling from her back to her tummy. Mom is not excited about the prospect of Elizabeth becoming mobile, but watching her roll was exciting! Now she can roll in all directions-- it's only a matter of time before she's crawling, and then walking, and then driving (okay, maybe we have awhile until the last one!)

Preparing for Spring

The Grants got a bit of spring fever this weekend, with temperatures soaring into the 60s. Is there a chance that winter is actually over?
We decided to try out the backpack that Nick and Nina Schmidt bought Elizabeth. She seemed to like riding around on mom's and dad's back...and she definitely loved eating the pack!

Tummy Time!

Last night they're cleaning my tum-tum. Now...they're making me workout on it!

Tubby Time

"Tire, what tire?"

As you can see from the photo, Elizabeth definitely isn't hurting for food. In fact if a cold snap hits us in April, she'll have enough storage to make it days! (Sorry honey, we have to make fun of you!) Good thing you're the cutest little baby with or without the extra chub.
